Art Studio + Administrative Assistant Position

POSITION: Part Time Contract Employee

COMMITMENT: 10-15 hours per week (additional available, based on experience)

LOCATION: Arts & Industry Building, Florence, MA - Potential hybrid after 30 day trial period

COMPENSATION: $15 per hour - $18 per hour (based on experience)


OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION 

Drawn to Ecology is looking for a Studio + Admin Assistant to serve two primary functions:  

  • Assist in the day-to-day management of a busy art studio, ensuring that it runs smoothly and efficiently 
  • Provide administrative support to the Studio Owner, Alyssa

The Studio Assistant works directly with Alyssa in the upkeep and operations of the studio including cleanliness, production preparation, and inventory + file management. The ideal candidate has strong organizational and attention to detail skills, works well independently and will proactively ask questions & seek clarification when they aren’t sure how to approach a project or a task.

As the assistant grows in experience, they may be eligible to take on additional responsibilities which may include a promotion in hours and compensation. *Candidates with proficiency in Adobe suite, specifically photoshop and illustrator, are encouraged to add any Production Artist/Design qualifications with their application.*


RESPONSIBILITIES (MAY VARY)

  • Maintain an organized and tidy studio environment, including cleaning and resetting the studio for production runs
  • Package shipments and/or drop them off at various mail pickup locations (primarily in the building)
  • Track and maintain inventory of products and studio supplies 
  • Perform administrative tasks, directly with Studio Owner:
  • Organize information into documents + spreadsheets 
  • Follow, create & update SOPs 
  • Research projects
  • Update + track large number of projects simultaneously (increased quantity during peak season)
  • Additional hours available in peak season

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES, WITH APPLICABLE DESIGN QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Scan and prepare artwork for design development
  • Create Product Mockups using both Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Follow internal design file management and specifications for each manufacturer
  • Other responsibilities may be available upon discussion of candidates design qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience working in an artist studio, but not required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the studio
  • Experience providing administrative support but not required
  • Experience with Spreadsheets, Docs, and/or Google Workspaces 
  • other online software experience or familiarity preferred but willing to train the right candidate
  • Ability to work well independently 
  • Ideal candidate is available to work M-F, between hours of 10am-5pm (flexible after 30 day trial)
  • 10-15 hours per week, split between at least 3 days a week, at no less than 2 hour shifts
  • After a 30 day trial period, the position may be available hybrid, in-person + remote

  • Studio Dog Nova (attendance can be modified based on comfort level of candidate)
  • Third Floor Studio in the Arts and Industry Mill Building with lots of natural light
  • Production Manager Amy is primarily remote, coming in occasionally to drop off products
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds

Artist and science communicator Alyssa, the owner of Drawn to Ecology, draws educational ink and watercolor designs for every adventurer. We turn those designs into Made in the USA sustainable products. Processing and assembling in our studio, before shipping them to National Park Stores across the country.
